Homemade Butter!
We have a liter of milk delivered to our door every morning by a sweet little old lady who milks the cows herself. We pay less for this fresh raw milk delivery than we would for store-bought! I am very thankful for this! You can read some about the benefits of raw milk here or here.
Yummy, fresh, wholesome, free-of chemicals, free of dyes, all natural, creamy and FREE butter!
This was the hard part---skimming the cream off the top.
I guess it's not an exact art. I was just kind of hoping that I wasn't getting any milk in the cream.
Creamy.
Time to start shaking!
Molly having a turn.
The more you shake = the more calories you burn = the more butter you can enjoy!
Lauryn got into it.
REALLY into it.
We even woke Jenna up from her nap so she could have a turn!
She was thrilled.....really.
After about 10 or 15 minutes it looked like this.
Pouring off the buttermilk.
It looks a little gross. But it's not. It's fresh creamy butter!
See!
Mmmm...
Yummy!

Hey Erin! Fun to read about you guys making butter. I am trying to cook healthier for us, we will see how many recipes I can make from this new healthy food magazine I bought and what I find online. So many recipes are a no go because Brazil doesn’t have certain ingredients. Glad to see you guys having fun!
That’s awesome, Jane! I have a few sites with great, healthy recipes if you’re interested! It’s kind of frustrating for me, not finding ingredients. Although it’s getting a little better here!
Good information here. I enjoyed reading this and can’t wait for more. Keep up the good work.
